Just two hours ago, CLG announced that ‘FNS’ won’t be playing for them anymore, and their fifth is TBA. (Read more here: http://clgaming.net/news/744). I won’t be surprised if m0E steps in for this match as he has played with them before a couple of times in the past and he is one of the better free agents out in NA at the moment. He has also mentioned many times that he misses playing professionally, so he may jump onto CLG and play until they find their fifth.
FNS and the other 4 were good friends, all living together in the CLG house so no doubt this will take a toll on them mentally, but the players here are still better than the Splyce players in terms of individual skill imo. This roster change comes after CLG failed to pass the group stage at the ESEA ESL Pro League LAN which happened under a week ago (defeats from TQM and Luminosity). On a brighter note though, CLG won a local NA LAN this month where a bunch of good teams attended, beating out Complexity in the grand finals 2-0.
This is a new-er team, built around the likes of ptr and friends. Here we see some T2 names and some up and coming talents like stewie2k. Although they are a new team, they attended the Northern Arena (the LAN CLG won) and got knocked out in the semi’s by CLG, 1-2 but in the process, Splyce defeated CLG Red and Method while losing to Complexity as well.
Post LAN, they have played two games of which they won against Denial and Tectonic. From what I can gather from their results, they are a T2 team with talent but it’s still too early to tell where they are headed.
Final thoughts and advice
This match is in just a few hours and with FNS being cut merely hours ago, it’s going to be hard to predict this match. Play the odds here is all I can say. But I do think a smarter option here would be to skip this, watch this match and see how the core 4 play without FNS and also see who the 5th is.
My odds for this match: CLG 55:45 Splyce
These two teams facing off again, they seem to be doing it a lot recently, and this should be a good game. FNS has stepped down, I am not really sure the reasons, but it seems he didn’t think they had potential to win things, the biggest reason for me being because of him, as he is not a great player. They just announced on twitter that pita will be stepping in today, and this should weaken the further, as to my knowledge he has not really played active for a long time. In case you guys don’t remember who he is, he is the old manager of NIP, who recently moved to NA to manage CLG. They might of practiced with him but still they won’t be a good level.
Splyce seem to have turned a corner ever since LAN, and have been performing well. They looked good against A.auth last night, and will go into this match full of confidence. They also have a good record against CLG, and I personally believe with the odds currently being 65-35, and there being pita playing instead, it screams out for an underdog bet on Splyce. This is of course a risky game, as CLG when they are on their level, can beat almost anyone in NA, so only go LOW.
My odds for this match: CLG 60:40 Splyce
