Tough game to call here again, but could be a good but risky underdog. Torpedo of course recently picked up zende to replace Malle. He may not be as flashy or as good a fragger, but he is a lot more experienced, and has seemed to help with their consistency. They are a side who can be really good when they are on it, but lost games poorly, and fail to close out important rounds. They have a lot of hours the last weeks, and this has been evident in their results lately. Apart from a loss to SK, they have beaten Tricked, ATN, Arcade and Empire, which are decent results.
The form of Escape has also been decent. Beating YP, Ence, HR, and Gambit, with their only loss at all since joining Escape, being at the hands of FS. This is impressive form, and they are for sure the favourites in this game.
The head 2 heads with these two sides are quite interesting, with Torpedo taking the last 2-1, with a dominating performance. Both sides like Mirage, so expect to see that today. It is go the go too map of Escape, but Torpedo are also really good on this map, and beat them on it last time, so could give them a slight advantage here.
Overall, this is a close game and one that’s hard to call. With the real odds being closer to 60-40/55-45, I would purely play the odds here, and suggest a LOW bet on Torpedo as things stand.
My odds for this match: Escape 55:45 Torpedo
So the semi-finals of the Operation Kinguin #2 here, meaning that both teams should in theory really be trying their best here. Prizepool for first place here is 10,000, which is not the greatest however for teams like this it is not the worst either. Escape would be looking desperately to pick up some silverware given how they just got picked up by their org, early trophies is always good. This in theory should be a very close game, however I would favor Escape a bit here. While I do feel that perhaps in the future, Torpedo has a higher potential compared to the current Escape lineup, as it stands right now I think that form wise and just skill wise and teamplay wise, Escape takes the cake here by a bit. Escape can be up and down at times, however recently, excluding their humiliating F3 defeat, they have been on the up so that is a positive sign, the addition of Slap seems to be helping them quite a bit. Of course Torpedo have had their own recent addition in the shape of Zende, who as I always say I have admired for a long time and think he is a really stable player when on form, definitely an improvement for the Torpedo guys. At the end of the day, the last time these two met Torpedo took it rather easily in a 2-1, however I think it should be closer here. 60-40 Escape for me here.
