The loser of this match will be eliminated. Team YP and NerdRage have been placed into Group B and have each played one match. Both of them lost their match and this will be a ‘last chance for survival’ match. Very important if they want a slice of the $20,000 prize pool.
Team YP hasn’t been playing to their best as of late, but yesterday they did manage to bring PENTA to OT on Cache before losing 17-19. Team YP were invited into this event and played their first match on the 23rd of January against the Orgless (PixelFire now has no org again) squad and YP lost 0-2 on Mirage and Dust 2 in what looked like a brutal bashing.
Aside from all the recent losses though, Team YP have managed to qualify for the MLG Columbus Main Qualifier by defeating Ancient and CSGL to get a spot in the last heat of qualifying matches. With that being said though, will Team YP care about this league when they could be practicing for the big time matches which they’ll play in just under 3 weeks? Who knows but I do hope they play their best in this match because I know they can win this.
The Brits aren’t actually half bad at CSGO. This team has managed to beat non-UK teams which is quite a rare sight. Unlike Team YP, NerdRage had to earn their spot to play in this league (through the Closed Qualifier) which could mean that they are willing to try harder to win than Team YP given the current circumstances.
NerdRage lost their first match like I mentioned before against E-frag which is understandable since E-frag is a level higher than NerdRage skill wise. What surprised me though is that NerdRage took Dust 2 into OT (15-19) against the Balkan superiors. They still lost though, 0-2 of course. The only matches NerdRage have played this year were in the Closed Qualifier and a UCC match. They beat out eSuba, Refuse and Lions to earn their spot here.
Final thoughts and advice
This is a tough match to call to be honest. Team YP have bigger things on their plate but they are the more skilled team. NerdRage are an up and coming team (if you can even say that for the UK scene) and they are probably fueled more with motivation and a hunger to win since they actually did their best during the qualifying phase. I’m not going to bet on this match since I’m not feeling it, but Team YP should be the winners here.
My odds for this match: YP 65:35 NR
