Blizzard Shows Mercy And Nerfs Resurrection - Tipify

With Overwatch patch notes released on October 17, we’ll see two commonly-used supports, Mercy and Lucio receiving reworks for their abilities. In addition, a player’s online presence settings get a nod too.

Double resurrections?

Starting with the patch’s center of attention, because of community feedback, Mercy’s Valkyrie ability was minorly buffed as its Resurrection’s cooldown will no longer reset or reduce the time. With this change to the ability, players can save time by no longer needing to estimate the time of using Resurrect and can now actually use it twice. Included in the patch notes, Blizzard made the ability have an extra charge instead of waiting for the cooldown.

“Valkyrie no longer resets or reduces Resurrect’s cooldown. Instead, it now provides an extra ‘charge,’ allowing you to revive an ally even if it is still on cooldown. If the bonus charge hasn’t been spent when Valkyrie ends, it will be removed.” Blizzard noted in the patch notes.

Additionally, this makes Mercy an easy-pick for all skill brackets because her abilities make her an ideal support.

“This method makes Resurrect more flexible when used with Valkyrie. For example, in the past if you wanted to resurrect two teammates, you had to revive the first target, then activate Valkyrie (causing the Resurrect’s cooldown to reset), and then revive the other target. With this change, you can now activate Valkyrie and fly in quickly to resurrect both targets instantly. However, this still reduces the overall number of Resurrects that Mercy can provide, since Valkyrie no longer reduces its cooldown.” Blizzard added in the patch notes.

Lastly, Mercy’s Guardian Angel ability was also fixed. Using the jump button, players can glide over a targeted ally.

Few bug fixes

Along with a series of bug fixes, Lucio’s Wall Ride ability–before the patch–made the hero slow down. Adjusting the ability, Lucio received a 65% speed boost when using Wall Ride to make up for the lost speed and return it to its normal speed. Alike to Lucio’s bug fix, Sombra’s Pumpkinette victory pose which prevented the proper display of visual effects. Also, more voice lines were added to Cultist Zenyatta.

Online status

Finally, players have the option to set their online statuses to online, away, busy, or appear offline. If you want to change your online status, just go to the social menu and choose the status you want to be seen. Although, if you happened to be placed in a game along with your friends, they’ll be able to see you even if you set the offline option.
