Galaxy Battles 2018: The biggest DotA 2 Major To Be Held In The Philippines - Tipify

Philippines to host DotA 2 tournament

After the first season of Galaxy Battles took place in Shenzhen, China earlier this year, esports tournament organizers Fallout Gaming and Purpose Win brings the 2nd Galaxy Battles to the Philippines. Unlike the first Galaxy Battles, the upcoming tournament is recognized as a Defense of the Ancients (DotA) 2 Major. The event takes place in January next year, from Jan. 19 to 21. Happening at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue Bulacan, the DotA tournament aims to bring the esports scene to Southeast Asia where the market widely accepts it. Choosing the Philippines as the host of the event is a wise choice for the organizers as the esports scene in the country is intense. The Philippine Area has a 60,000 seating capacity where fans could show their support for their favorite teams. Tickets will be available starting this November 2017.

Galaxy Battles: Emerging Worlds

The event was given the tagline “Emerging Worlds” as it perfectly suits the tournament’s ambitions. The road to Galaxy Battles will begin in mid-November with regional invitational qualifiers and open qualifiers played simultaneously in six regions: China, Southeast Asia, Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States, North America, and South America. This will run for approximately four weeks and determines the top team from each region for the Galaxy Battles qualifiers. To encourage more aspiring esports teams, athletes, and unknown talents in the region, the organizers will allocate two slots to the top two teams of New Bloods Championships, Southeast Asia’s first amateur tournament. The Galaxy Battles also invites eight teams across six regions, including the Philippines’ TNC Pro Team, to participate at the main event. The tournament will be accommodating a total of 18 teams, all fighting for a total prize pool of $1 million.

The staging of the Galaxy Battles divides the Philippine Arena into three main sections. The main arena will be the “battleground” of the event. Another section is called the Galaxy Battles DOTA 2 World where there will be theme park-like activities, food and beverage zones, resting pods, and rest areas, and a sponsorship area for event partners to feature their products and services. The Philippine Stadium beside the arena will host the Galaxy Battles music festival which will showcase international artists, regional artists, and local artists throughout the event duration. As early as now, esports fans and Bitcoin esports bettors, especially of DOTA 2, are highly anticipated of the upcoming tournament in the Philippines.
