Intel Extreme Masters XII Team Preview: Team Liquid And Ninjas In Pyjamas - Tipify

As the next CS:GO Premier Tournament, the Intel Extreme Masters XII Oakland is nearing its opening week, all of the teams have been finalized. All 12 teams are locked into their groups as well. In the next 5 days, we will be going over a bit of each team’s’ history and their current players. 2 teams will be broken down a day until the tournament opens on November 16. IEM will be a two-esports contest as PUBG joins forces with CS:GO to turn the tournament into an action-packed event.

NiP and Liquid are domineering teams. They shoot their ways through the group stage with no losses and calmly advances to the playoffs, even stepping up to the finals stages of the tournament. But do they succeed in taking home the championship? NiP and Liquid have troubles closing out tournaments. Was it because they faced tougher teams? Nonetheless, both teams prove to be big guns in CS:GO.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid’s franchise is mostly known for its StarCraft team, but it has surely made its name in the CS:GO match scene as well. Liquid consistently made different major tournaments over the years and even won a few championships. Team Liquid was the first ever North American team to advance to a CS:GO Major grand finals during the ESL One: Cologne 2016. Also, its recent championship win last November 5 closed out the Americas Minor Championship in 2018.

The Team Liquid roster competing in the Intel Extreme Masters Season 12 features the following players:

  • Nicholas Cannella/ nitr0
  • Jonathan Jablonowski/EliGE
  • Joshua Marzano/jdm64
  • Peter Jarguz/stanislaw
  • Russel Van Dulken/Twistzz

Ninjas In Pyjamas

The Sweden-based esports team is the current Intel Extreme Masters Champions. However, NiP hasn’t qualified for a CS:GO major after losing to three matches in the European Minor Qualifiers. A quick fact: the last time NiP qualified for a CS:GO major was back in 2016. This was the ESL One Cologne Major where FlipSid3 Tactics won in the deciding match of their group. NiP will now miss three straight Majors, along with ELEAGUE Atlanta, PGL Krakow, and then the soon-to-be The Boston Major. Now NiP went through roster changes and are working their way up again. Will they take home the IEM trophy for a back-to-back championship run?

The Ninjas In Pyjamas roster competing in the Intel Extreme Masters Season 12 features the following players:

  • Patrik Lindberg/f0rest
  • Christopher Alesund/GeT_RiGhT
  • Richard Landström/Xizt
  • William Sundin/draken
  • Fredrik Sterner/REZ
