The IEM Masters XIII Begins Today - Tipify

CS:GO teams and players who competed at StarSeries i-League Invitational Season 4 only have a day to rest because the majority of them will continue to battle each other as the Intel Extreme Master XIII begins later today.

Similar to StarSeries, IEM Masters XIII will be held at the Spodek Arena in Poland, Katowice. The Premier tournament begins on February 27 until the grand finals on March 4.

The Premier tournament features 16 teams from all over the world in an all-out clash for a part of the $500,000 prize pool. The team who places first will bring home a whopping $250,000 out of the pool. Moreover, the format for the tournament begins with an eight-team double-elimination group stage, with a best-of-one series for the opening round matches and becomes a best-of-three in the next brackets. In that, all stage winners will have an instant slot in the semis, while losing finalist teams and third-placers will have a shot at the quarterfinals title. Finally, teams who lose immediately still have a chance in the lower bracket, but in a crucial must-win situation.

First-day matches and odds

  • Virtus (3.426) vs G2 (1.299)

Like all past tournaments, FaZe Clan and SK Gaming are the favorites to win. But, both top CS:GO teams have stumbled in StarSeries, where FaZe placed fourth and SK couldn’t even advance to the semifinals of the tournament. If you’re looking for a dark horse bet, G2 and NiP are teams you could root on, as both teams are hungry and are looking to prove themselves as threats once again.
