In the middle of the ESL Pro League Season 7 lies another premier tournament. This coming weekend, particularly on Saturday, the StarSeries i-League Season 4 opens its own event with a $300,000 prize pool in Kiev, Ukraine.

After the first round of EPL, an online tournament, top CS:GO teams fly to Kiev to compete in a LAN tournament. Teams are split into four pools where they are distributed depending on their spot in the HLTV rankings. The first pool is CS:GO’s top four teams, the second pool consists of teams ranked from 5th to 9th, and the remaining pools follow suit. Lastly, the bracket for the matches is drawn up where the teams in the first pool face off against the teams in the fourth pool and the teams in the second pool squares off with the teams in the third pool.

Four pools with distributed teams:

Pool 1 consists of FaZe, SK Gaming, Cloud9, and G2 Esports.

Pool 2 consists of mousesports, fnatic, Astralis, and Natus Vincere.

Pool 3 consists of Gambit,, HellRaisers, and Team Liquid.

Pool 4 consists of Heroic, Renegades, TyLoo, and MVP PK.

Tournament Format

The StarSeries continuous its usual format for its group stages in a 16 team Swiss System format where all matches follow a best-of-three series. The top eight teams in the standings advance to the playoffs and the bottom eight teams are eliminated. All playoffs matches are done in a single-elimination bracket with a best-of-three series, including the finals.
