Esports News – The second Dota 2 major tournament of the year, The Bucharest Major, has completed two days worth of matches. The tournament features a new format called the Swiss. It has a total of five rounds following a best-of-one series to determine the top-eight teams qualifying for the playoffs.
So far, Evil Geniuses, TNC, VGJ.Thunder, and Newbee have won all of their matches after two games in Bucharest Major, while OG, Secret, Liquid, OpTic, compLexity, VP, Na’Vi, and paiN split both of their games with one win and one loss. On the other hand, these 4 teams have yet to notch a win in the major: Vici, Vega, LGD, and Mineski all face elimination from the tournament because the new format follows a structure where teams who have 3 losses are automatically eliminated from the tournament.
Round 3 High Matches
Now that we’re nearing the end of the group stage, we get closer to knowing the teams advancing to the playoffs this weekend. Unbeaten teams will face each other in Round 3 and might just stir news worthy of praise. Here are the matches and odds after the draw:
Round 3 Mid Matches
The teams in the middle of the pack are working to claim a higher seed in the standings. Usual favorites, Secret and Liquid, are in the middle after losing their round 2 matches. We’ll find out which teams gather and falter in the 3rd round matches:
- VP (1.211) vs Na’Vi (4.256)
- Secret (1.179) vs paiN (4.700)
- Liquid (1.173) vs coL (4.789)
- OpTic (2.429) vs OG (1.541)
Round 3 Low Matches
Unfortunately, the teams pitted in this bracket face early elimination. It’s a shock that VG, LFY, Vega, and Mineski are here as these teams performed well in recent tournaments. But, the Swiss is a demanding format to follow as two of these teams are bound to head home later.
