DreamHack Open Tours Closed Qualifier To Kick Off This May - Tipify

Esports News – DreamHack Open Tours 2018, the world’s largest digital festival for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) gamers and fans, is now set to start its closed qualifiers tournament, following the end of the open qualifier stage in North America and Europe.

Teams and format

The open qualifier stage ended last April 7 with a bang. The one-day event brought in 8 victorious CS:GO teams to compete in the next stage. Team Spirit, Mortal Kombat, Team LDLC.com, and Minlate are the teams representing Europe, while Team One, Mythic, Swole Patrol, and Torques are the representatives of North America. The highlight of the closed qualifiers is the French team Minlate that features the former Misfits players François “AmaNEk” Delaunay and David “devoduvek” Dobrosavljevic. Accordingly, these teams prevailed against other participants in a single-elimination bracket and best-of-three matches.

In the two regions mentioned, the qualified teams will join four invited sides with single-elimination brackets and best-of-three matches in the closed qualifier. The two winners will have the opportunity to join DreamHack’s invited teams in the next stage: Complexity Gaming, Ghost Gaming, Splyce, Eunited, AGO Esports, The Imperial, Quantum Bellator Fire, and Windigo Gaming. However, the invited North American teams will still have to fight for their spots in Tours with the winners of the open qualifier. Needless to say, only the winning teams will earn spots at the $100,000 CS:GO event which will be held from May 19th to 21st in France. The first placer will receive $50,000, followed by the 2nd placer with $20,000, and 3rd-4th placers with $10,000.

Aside from DreamHack Open Tours, fans and bettors can also follow updates and tournaments on DreamHack Austin, Summer, Valencia, Montreal, Atlanta, and Winter.
