S1mple Replaces Styko For Mousesports' ECS Matches - Tipify

Esports NewsNatus Vincere’s popular AWPer and Rifler might be visiting another neighborhood for a while. Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev will fill in for Mousesports in the upcoming Esports Championship Series’ (ECS) Season 3 matches against Virtus.pro.

The 20-year-old Ukrainian Star player S1mple replaced Martin “STYKO” Styk, the permanent rifler of Mousesports. According to the on-leave player, the doctor advised him to rest and get back in shape as he is not fit for competitive gaming just yet.

Additionally, Mousesports coach, Sergey “LMBT” Bezhanov, announced the news through Twitter last Thursday. He posted, “Due to known reasons @STYKOcsgo will not be able to play today, get well bro! But I want to thank @natusvincere @NAVIHarisPilton and of course @s1mpleO for helping once again in the super important match for our @ecs life…GI @virtuspro”. As the tweet suggests, LMBT was short on details regarding STYKO’s absence but did leave well wishes for his player in the announcement.

This may be surprising for some but this is not the first time that Mousesports have sought help from Natus Vincere and S1mple to fill-in a last-minute stand-in role for them. In December of 2017, he replaced Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný in the semi-finals and finals of LOOT.BET Cup 2 qualifier in which Mousesports successfully bagged the first place ranking and the first spot at cs_summit 2.

In the meantime, STYKO hopes to get back in shape as soon as possible for the next matches waiting for him; aside from ECS Season 3, Mousesports is undergoing preparation for the DreamHack Masters Marseille which will begin this week. Mousesports is currently in fifth place in the ECS standings with a total of four victories and several ties out of ten matches, while Virtus.pro placed seventh with four victories and seven defeats out of ten matches. If S1mple and Mousesports win in the match against Virtus.pro, the two teams will break a four-way tie in the point totals.

Below is the current roster of Mousesports for ECS Season 3:

  • Ukraine Aleksandr “s1mple” Ostyliev
  • Czech Republic Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný
  • Finland Miikka “suNny” Kemppi
  • Netherlands Chris “ChrisJ” de Jong
  • Estonia Robin “ropz” Kool
