Esports News – A few days back, Astralis won the DreamHack Masters Marseille and ESL Pro League Season 7 titles. The CS:GO scene is not even halfway through 2018, but the Danish team is already keeping up with the fans’ soaring expectations—especially top player Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, the recipient of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals by HLTVand Betway.
The 21-year old beat his teammates, Nicolai “device” Reedtz and Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander to the award. His performances as an AWPer in their map wins overshadowed the team’s main AWPer and leader, impressing critics and viewers watching the game. Regardless of the competition, Dupreeh personally confirmed that he did not consider the award as something to compete for with his teammates, “It’s something I’ve been fighting for for a long time. It’s been like a personal fight for myself. Obviously, it’s not something like I don’t try to compete within my team…It’s a personal achievement I’ve been wanting for a long time, I’m super happy to have it finally.”
ESL Pro League ranking
To date, this is the first-ever MVP award of Dupreeh. He was featured in HLTV’s top 20 players of the year four times, with the last being the best finishing in tenth place.
In ESL Pro League S7 finals, Dupreeh had the second-highest rating in Astralis—1.31. He earned an additional 1+ ratings in all matches except one map out of 11 that he played–his team’s 16-14 defeat to Team Liquid on Mirage map. This made little to no difference as the third map is Astralis’ only defeat in the tournament. Consequently, it was revealed that Dupreeh did not lead in any statistics leaderboards but he was featured in the top five in nine categories besides rating: Kill to Death Ratio (+55), Average Damage per Round (88.7), LAST (75.7%) and opening kills (39).
Dupreeh didn’t make it to the top 10 players in HLTV world ranking. He might’ve impressed them in his ESL Pro League performance, but there are other players who could dominate the entire CS:GO scene more consistently. Space Soldiers’ Ismailcan ‘XANTARES’ Dörtkardeş, Natus Vincere’s Aleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev, and SK Gaming’s Marcelo ‘coldzera’ David are the current holders of first, second, and third places respectively.
