Esports News – Due to the outcry of the community and issues concerning Dota 2 teams disconnecting, FACEIT decides to amend a number of rules for the Open Qualifier #2 of The International 8. The organizers’ official Twitter account posted a document containing the current and amended rules.
If an entire team disconnects from the match due to unexpected circumstances such as connection issues, power outages, adverse weather condition, and other matters of the same nature, the match will continue and be played until the end. But in an event where a team disconnects due to server issues, they should contact an admin by pressing the “CALL ADMIN” button in the FACEIT lobby on the FACEIT platform and brief them about the situation. If such errors and problems can be proven, the admins may decide to replay or start the match over.
If a whole team disconnects from the match due to unexpected circumstances such as the aforementioned rules, the opposing team can immediately pause the game and contact the FACEIT admin to brief them about the problem or issue in the match. The same standard should be followed: contact an admin by pressing the “CALL ADMIN” button in the FACEIT lobby on the FACEIT platform. This time, however, there is a disconnect pausing time per team (ten minutes long). If the opposing team of the other team encountering an issue has not reconnected when the ten-minute pause time has passed, the interval could only be extended based on the admin’s decision. If several disconnections happen during the same match, the disconnect pausing time of each will contribute towards the total ten minutes granted to each of the team.
In the case where both teams get disconnected, the first player who is able to connect back to the game must immediately pause the game and get in touch with the admin by pressing the “CALL ADMIN” button in the FACEIT lobby on the FACEIT platform. He or she should also be the one discussing the issues. The admin will then make a decision on whether the match can be continued right after fixing the disconnection or, if necessary, conduct a full rematch.
