Esports News – Team Astralis wrapped up the ELEAGUE CSGO Premier 2018 by beating Team Liquid in a two-map series (16-5 on Inferno and 16-12 on Nuke). It took them 2 hours to end the game while the other end didn’t make this victory easy for Astralis. Each team traded wins at halftime, with one tie at 11 rounds per side.

Tournament recap

The ELEAGUE CSGO Premier is Astralis’ fourth title since the start of the year. The North American team defeated one of the heavy favorites this season, even with Liquid’s top player and consistent MVP Epitacio “TACO” de Melo in the line-up.

The battle began on Inferno, a map picked by Liquid. Emil “Magisk” Reif opened up the action in the pistol round with a quad kill to give his team an early advantage over Liquid. Astralis held their water-tight defenses and prevented the opposing team from breaking their momentum. Liquid planted a bomb in a 2v2 to surprise Astralis, but Magisk eventually found a way to execute 15 kills by the seventh round and close the game by the 13th round.

Astralis continued to deliver obstacles. Liquid was instantly at a disadvantage on the second map, Nuke. The team took the pistol round in a 1v2 clutch, courtesy of Nicolai “device” Reedtz. Liquid tried to dominate a series of rounds for the first time since Inferno, entering Nuke with a 14-0 streak and 3-0 lead on the CT Aside. They won the first full gun round without losing a single player, but their consistency collapsed in the 21st round, giving Astralis a loophole to immediately hit back. Device didn’t let the opportunity slip away and used his AWP to finally finish the round with a 16-12 victory.
