Esports Championship Series Season 6: Teams, Format, Schedule - Tipify

Esports News – The Esports Championship Series (ECS) is a groundbreaking CSGO competition designed to help the competitive gaming industry reach minor regions and communities. It is one of the few organizations in partnership with both YouTube and FACEIT. This year, as the battle for glory becomes even more competitive, ECS is ready to take the stage once again as FACEIT announces the dates and qualified teams for the 6th season.

Format and teams

The final qualification for the FACEIT-run league culimates on September 17 in Europe and North America. The two regions will undergo two open qualifiers, followed by the finalists advancing to a more demanding and complicated round: The Challenger Cup. These qualifiers follow single elimination best-of-one series until the quarterfinals, where it changes to best-of-three series. The set of teams qualified for the slots will join the three invitees and one team relegated from Season 5’s Challenger Cup. After the round, the top two sides per Challenger Cup advances to the actual ECS Season 6.

The current teams qualified for the Cup and who have a chance to compete in the ECS are equally divided from Europe and North American regions. CompLexity Gaming, the top team of this year’s FACEIT Major joins the battle together with Gambit esports after finishing the relegation zone in the previous season. EnVyUs and OpTic Gaming, the two teams who finished tenth and ninth place in Europe and North American qualifiers, respectively, are also set to compete in the Challengers Cup but can no longer join the final line-up from their regions. They will be relegated to Season 7 where the competition follows a double elimination format.

The previous season which saw Astralis claiming the title at the SSE Arena gives way to this year’s playoffs as an opening act, but that’s the only vital information out so far. According to FACEIT’s organizers, the location and other announcements for the ECS Season 6 Finals will be announced soon. In the meantime, here are the schedules for events and registration:
