Esports News – The Winstrike Team finished 15th-16h placed at The FACEIT Major 2018 and ended the New Legends Stage with a disappointing 0-3 score. It was neither a success nor a failure as the team is just starting out, but the result still prompted the organization to bench four players and build a new line-up under the new coach, Dmitry “iksou” Mikhaylichenko
Changes and acquisitions
Winstrike acquired Quantum Bellator Fire last June 20, and now benched four members of their CSGO roster: Gregory “balblna” Oleinick, Aurimas “Kvik” Kvakšys, Nikita “waterfaLLZ” Matveyev, and Saveliy “jmqa” Bragin. Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailovis the only player on its active roster at the moment due to his exemplary performances at the M.Game League #2 and MID.TV Cyber Cup—both under CSGO 2018 Minor qualifiers.
The decision obviously follows the poor performances of the team at the recent Major, StarSeries & i-League CSGO Season 6, and ESEA Season 28: Advanced Division – Europe. Winstrike were unable to cling onto their Legend status after their battle in the New Legends stage. At the Major, Winstrike lost to three of the current best teams in the CSGO scene and was never favored by the majority of fans and analysts to win against any of them. In short, they were the underdogs against Team Liquid, Fnatic, and Cloud9.
At the moment, the organization plans to solely focus on its plans to rebuild around Boombl4 and coach iksou. However, a statement from Twitter revealed that some of the now-benched players may join the roster in the main line-up automatically if necessary. In a post from Winstrike Team’s official Twitter Page, they stated: “Due to the latest results of CSGO squad Winstrike Team decided to bench 4 players. It’s planned to build a new line-up with @Boombl4CS and coach @coach_iksou. Return of some players to the main roster is also possible, if required.”
Winstrike is set to compete in the CSGO qualifiers of EPICENTER and WESG, so a decision regarding the final roster will be announced soon. In the meantime, they introduced a temporary line-up for the EPICENTER CSGO qualification featuring the following players: Savely “jmqa” Bragin (Rifler/AWper), Gregory “balblna” Oleinick (Rifler/Support), and Aurimas “Kvik” Kvaksis (Rifler).
