Expansion Team Hangzhou Spark Reveals Logo, Skins, Colors - Tipify

Esports News – Most of the expansion teams in the Overwatch League begin to reveal their name, branding, logo, and colors. And China’s “Hangzhou Spark” has joined the line-up, debuting their entire team and in-game skins in a loud, surprising color combination of pink and baby blue.

About Hangzhou Spark

The Hangzhou Spark is owned and operated by Bilibili, a Chinese video sharing website company who also owns the Bilibili Gaming of the League of Legends. The new Overwatch team is the third expansion team from China, joining Guangzhou Charge and Chengdu on the list, and one of the few teams in the Overwatch League that signed a South Korean roster.

Branding reveal

A ten-second promotional video from the team’s official Twitter account showed the team colors and in-game skins, loudly shouting the colors pink and blue. Their logo, which appeared in the end, shows an anime-based vector with a finger gun coursing with electricity—a direct reference to anime protagonist Mikoto Mikasa from the show “A Certain Scientific Railgun”. The name Spark is then branded by the team as a symbol for “extreme speed and power” and “the electric nature and creative spark of the Bilibili brand.”

Responding to the brand reveal, Bilibili Gaming president Chen Youyou released a press statement: “We’ve staffed the team with world-class players and coaches. We’re confident in how the team will perform and we’re excited to see them in action when the 2019 season starts. We also hope fans will continue to create and discover more thrilling content on the Bilibili platform, as well as interact with fellow Overwatch gamers in the Bilibili community.”

Player roster

The team has announced their first player, Xu ‘Guxue’ Qiulin, on Weibo. He’s the star of the Chinese Overwatch World Cup team and one of the best tanks of the season. The rest of the players are listed below:

Xu “guxue” Qiulin  Tank  LGD Gaming
Jeong “NoSmite” Da-un  Tank  X6 Gaming
Kang “Adora” Jae-hwan  DPS  Seven

Kim “GodsB” Kyeong-bo  DPS  X6 Gaming

Meanwhile, the organizers handling the team for the coming Overwatch season includes Muho “Mask” Lee as the Head Coach, and Seung-jun “Sup7eme” Han and Hang “YinDong” Gao as the Assistant Coaches.
