Esports News – Team Virtus. Pro is the winner of the first Major title of the Dota Pro Circuit 2018-2019 season. Virtus.Pro beat Team Secret 3-2 in the grand finals of the Kuala Lumpur Major at Axiata Arena, secured the title, and went home with $350,000 prize pool and 4950 DPC points. Virtus.Pro is now a direct qualifier for The International 9 (TI9).
Out of all the 16 competing Dota 2 teams, Virtus. Pro and Team Secret were two of the season’s heavy favoites. It then goes without saying that their grand finals match were filled with excited fans and impressive performances.
The two teams, after passing through the qualifier, group stage, and playoffs, head to the grand finals in a best of five format. It was Virtus.Pro that started the game and took the first lead. For about 20 minutes of gameplay, Team Secret struggled to keep up as Virtus.Pro consistently pushed them back at every turn. The heat of the game increased when Yeik ‘MidOne’ Nai Zheng locked in a Shadow Shaman for his mid lane choice, but the team members of Virtus. Pro knew exactly what to do. Near the 30 minute-mark, Virtus.Pro infiltrated Team Secret’s base and left them without any options but to give up, and give the first round to the dominating team.
Team Secret started the second game with a more determined team. They took the early lead with the help of Yazied ‘YapzOr’ Jaradat’s Weaver who went to every lane just to destroy all opponents penetrating their area. Team Secret was too strong for Virtus. Pro on the second round, so the game went on for nearly an hour before the scores reached a 1-1 tie.
As the two teams tied the game, Team Secret and Virtus.Pro met each other on the third round with more brutal team fights. However, it didn’t take too long for Team Secret to bring the tally to 2-1, beating Virtus.Pro with the same manner as the second round.
Virtus. Pro didn’t let Team Secret celebrate their back-to-back wins on the second and third round. They’ve finally coordinated on the 4th round to reach the decider round. The 5th game has both teams fighting against each other neck to neck in the early and mid rounds of the game. Virtus.Pro armed themselves with a combination of Terrorblade and Magnus to finally destroy Team Secret’s defenses and win the title.
