Kuroky Creates Dota 2 History By Playing All 116 Heroes - Tipify

Esports News – As of today, there are 116 unique heroes in Dota 2—most are transferred from DotA AllStars, the game’s predecessor based on Warcraft III. With that massive selection, it’s difficult to master, let alone play each and every character in amateur and professional matches. But Team Liquid captain and The International 2017 (TI7) champion Kuro “Kuroky” Takhesomi managed to accomplish the impossible. Kuroky is now the first-ever Dota 2 player to play all 116 heroes in professional matches.

Hero 116th

During Team Liquid’s journey at the European Qualifiers of the Chongqing Major, the team was set to face the Swedish team Alliance in a seeding match. To complete Kuroky’s mission, Liquid has chosen hero Meepo for Kuroky in Game 1, leaving Templar Assassin as the last hero the captain has yet to pick. Templar Assassin was then chosen in the next game.

The Templar Assassin, also known as Lanaya, is an agility hero known for her ability to deal huge bursts of physical damage to enemy swathes with expert timing and positioning. Choosing her as the last hero, despite her very short-ranged agility, is an impressive feat. Besides, Kuroky and Liquid’s dedication to try out all the 116 heroes is an accomplishment on its own since most esports professionals only stick to their signature heroes in a certain position. Each hero is also affected by the current metagame so it’s difficult to switch heroes for the next matches if a player hasn’t mastered the gameplay yet.

About Kuroky

Kuroky is one of the most popular players in the history of Dota 2, and his story has inspired players from all over the world. Kuroky grew up in Berlin, Germany and suffered from a leg disability when he was younger. This particular weakness inspired him to play video games and join the competitive Dota 2 scene.

Kuroky played with a few German Dota 2 teams before making his international debut with Mousesports. The succeeding years saw Kuroky joining other giant teams in the scene, Natus Vincere, Virtus.Pro, and Team Secret. It was in 2015 when Kuroky joined Team Liquid to cementing his name at TI6 and TI7 with his signature heroes Rubick, Visage, and Io.
