Top 5 Supports Heading To NA LCS Season 9 - Tipify

Esports News – Competitive League of Legends welcomes 2019 with the ninth season of NA LCS. The tournament was recently re-branded as the “LCS” to differentiate it from its European counterpart, but it will still introduce the same North American LoL teams with a diverse set of professional players from different countries. We already know the top 5 top laners heading to the tournament, so here are the top 5 support players to look out for in NA LCS 2019:

5. Olleh – Golden Guardians

Previously known as “ANNA”, South Korean player Kim “Olleh” Joo-sung is the current support player of Golden Guardians. He was previously a part of Team Liquid, partially responsible for the team’s victory at last year’s NA LCS Summer and Spring Playoffs. According to analysts, he could have ranked higher on the list if he didn’t fail to coordinate with Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, another support player from Liquid, during their international performances. Olleh’s signature champions are Thresh and Bard.

4. Smoothie – TSM

Despite Team SoloMid’s average performance at LCS Summer and Spring Playoffs and NA Regional Finals, their support player Andy “Smoothie” Ta is still one of the best LoL support players of the season. Some say that Smoothie single-handedly saved the team from a tournament slump last year, but many believe that AD Carry Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen will help him carry Team SoloMid at NA LCS 2019. Smoothie’s trademark champions are Annie, Sona, and Thresh.

3. Zeyzal – Cloud 9

2018 was a fruitful year for Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam of Cloud 9. He was one of the newest players in the scene but was deemed responsible for the team’s previous achievements at NA Academy 2018 Summer and NA Regional Finals. With Zeyzal on board, Cloud 9 made it to the semifinals of Worlds 2018. Aside from acting as the support of the team, Zeysal is also gifted as a coach, jungler, and laner.

2. CoreJJ – Team Liquid

Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in replaced Olleh as the support of Team Liquid. People have high expectations over Liquid’s new roster since Olleh was a former world champion. He previously played under the banner of South Korean team Gen.G as another support player, but he’s also known for his impressive skills as a Bot Laner. His sole signature player is Zyra.

1. Aphromoo – 100 Thieves

Veteran player Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black bagged the top place in the chart. This is no surprise since he’s already playing for Team Liquid when the team won the NA LCS 2018 Spring, followed by second-place achievements at the NA LCS 2018 Spring Playoffs and Rift Rivals 2018 NA-EU. Analysts believe that Aphromoo will strengthen the overall squad with his deadly combination and gameplay strategies using Sona, Lulu, Thresh, and Blitzcrank.
