Esports News – Week 4 of the Overwatch League Season 2 featured another set of surprises just like the Week 3 and the previous weeks. But if there’s one team that consistently satisfies people’s expectations—it’s the New York Excelsior. The team dominated the standings at 7-0, with Vancouver Titans following their place at 6-0. We have yet to see what the rest of the teams have in store for us, so here are the most-anticipated matches for Week 5, Day 1 that could satisfy your predictions:
Sunday, March 17th
Washington Justice vs Paris Eternal
Seoul Dynasty and Washington Justice went head to head last week—the latter lost the match. The team still hasn’t sealed their first win yet, and they only have two matches left to compete. Similarly, Paris Eternal faced San Francisco Shock and Vancouver Titans last week, wherein losing both matches in the end. Their upcoming match before the Stage 1 playoffs now categorized them as the season’s underdogs.
London Spitfire vs Seoul Dynasty
London Spitfire lost to Shanghai Dragons last Sunday, and was instantly coined one of the biggest upsets in the history of the league as the Dragons were notorious for their losing streaks (42-0) in the inaugural season. Meanwhile, Seoul Dynasty took down Washington Justice with a 3-1 victory in Week 4. Both teams struggle to increase their win rate as both failed to make it to the top 8 dominating teams of Stage 1.
Boston Uprising vs Dallas Fuel
Boston Uprising beat Florida Mayhem in Week 4, sealing their fate with the exact score that could help them make the cut for the Playoffs. Similarly, Dallas Fuel defeated their final opponent, Shanghai Dragons, to secure their 4-0 victory. On Week 5, Boston Uprising’s match against the Dallas Fuel will be an all-or-nothing battle.
Atlanta Reign vs Chengdu Hunters
Atlanta Reign lost to the Los Angeles Gladiators last week, but they still have a fighting chance to secure a spot in the playoffs if Dallas Fuel and San Francisco Shock fall behind. Chengdu Hunters, on the other hand, faced top-tier team Vancouver Titans in overtime. The winning team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Chengdu Hunters with a 3-2 victory. Atlanta may have a better chance of gracing the stage in the Stage 1 playoffs, but there’s no denying that Chengdu Hunters executed one of their best performances last week and nearly defeated the undefeated Vancouver Titans.
