Vici Gaming Leaks The International 9 Schedule - Tipify

Esports News – The International is the biggest Dota 2 tournament every competitive season. And now that we’re on its 9th season, it’s bigger than ever. The full and official details for the upcoming tournament hasn’t been revealed by Valve yet, but powerhouse team Vici Gaming appears to have an inside and exclusive access on the tournament. The team unveiled the unofficial calendar of TI9 on their Weibo account.

Unofficial calendar

Vici Gaming posted the following statement on Weibo last April 22: “According to inside information, the timetable to TI9 is out! Group stage: 8.16~8.18, playoffs: 8.20~8.25. Please adjust your work/study arrangements accordingly in order to enjoy the matches to the fullest.”

Based on the supposed leaked dates posted by the team, TI9 will take place in August. The group stage will last for two days from August 16 to 18. The final event of the competition will be held from August 20 to 25. Valve hasn’t released a statement regarding the tournament yet and has not verified any information revealed by Vici Gaming.

Teams to expect?

It’s worth noting that only four Dota 2 teams have a secured slot in the DPC rankings this April: Vici Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, and Virtus. Pro. The tournament still needs 8 teams to complete the lineup. All the qualified teams for TI9 will surely be revealed after the last competition of the Dota Pro Circuit 2018-19 season—the Epicenter Major. The regional qualifiers of the tournament will only allow those teams who failed to get into the top 12 of the DPC rankings to compete, and only six slots for six regions are available. At press time, the teams have a chance to increase their DPC points at the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the official four teams dominating the rankings have already bought a ticket to China as Shanghai will host TI9 at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Vici Gaming will have a chance to compete on their home soil. Many fans and analysts are still waiting for the European region to secure their representatives, especially the reigning champions, OG Esports.
