Esports News – The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Playoffs is getting closer, so we visit the remaining LoL teams striving hard to secure a spot in the League of Legends World Championship. Here’s a list of the most-anticipated matches in LCS Week 8.
Golden Guardians vs 100 Thieves
100 Thieves lost to Cloud 9 last week, but the team remains in much better shape than the rest of the LCS’ contenders. The edge of 100 Thieves spotlights individual player performances from Aaron “FakeGod” Lee, Zaqueri “aphromoo” Black, and Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho (김찬호). These three are a serious threat to other players.
Golden Guardians, on the other hand, struggles to improve their bot-lane. The team has a chance to jump to the next stage and defeat 100 Thieves if they can utilize their veteran mid-laner Henrik “Froggen” Hansen and new bot-lane Ian “FBI” Huang effectively.
Counter Logic Gaming vs Echo Fox
According to analysts, this matchup is likely to be one-sided. Counter Logic Gaming is one of the strongest North American teams in the tournament, while Echo Fox continues to give us week after week of poor performances.
CLG beat Cloud 9 last week to bag the second position. The team’s macro play in all their games can only be compared to Team Liquid’s aggressive team fight. However, we can still consider Echo Fox’s potential if new jungler Mike Yeung can improve his KDA, showing room for improvement and a possible upset.
Golden Guardians vs OpTic Gaming
It’s going to be a challenging week for Golden Guardians as they are set to face another powerhouse team in week 8. Likewise, Optic Gaming might find it difficult to settle the match since Golden Guardians has a new bot-lane.
Last week, Optic ended a fantastic fight against Team SoloMid, thanks to Lee “Crown” Min-ho, Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, Niship “Dhokla” Dosh, and William “Meteos” Hartman’s impressive teamwork in their last two games. If the three can surprise Golden Guardians’ team members, they’ll win the game.
Team SoloMid vs 100 Thieves
Team SoloMid are heavy favorites, but 100 Thieves racks up the numbers as well. Remember that SoloMid was easily defeated by Optic last week. On top of that, they would have lost to Golden Guardians if they didn’t secure a 50/50 Baron opportunity. The team isn’t proactive enough to quickly end their match against 100 Thieves. The opposing team is here to do anything and everything just to secure a spot for the playoffs.
Team Liquid vs Cloud9
Last but definitely not the least is an exciting matchup against two powerhouse teams: Team Liquid and Cloud9. Liquid remains to be the best team of the season, but Cloud9 has the means and potential to get through them.
The last time Liquid and Cloud 9 met in the arena, Cloud 9 won. As a result, the two teams learned some lessons and both are now ready to use their new strategies against one another. Cloud 9 can upset the tournament, but Liquid is determined to stay on top.
