Esports News – ESL One Cologne, the most-awaited CS:GO Major tournament this month, is set to begin on Tuesday, July 2. A total of 16 teams from Europe, Asia, and North America will compete for the title, the lion’s share of the $300,000 prize pool, and the most-coveted tournament points for the Intel Grand Slam Season 2.

Tournament details

The 16 CS:GO teams are divided into two groups for the double-elimination group stage matches. Both the division and the teams were seeded according to CS:GO World Ranking, and nine of the participants come from the top 10 best teams in the world of HLTV’s rankings. The first few matches of the first stage follows a BO1, while the rest of the competition observe a BO3 series. The top three teams from each group advances to the playoffs. The winners automatically proceed to the semifinals, but the second and third-place teams need to compete at the quarterfinals as High Seeds and Low Seeds. Finally, the winners from the playoffs face each other in the grand finals which features a BO5 series.

The grand winner of ESL One Cologne gets a chance to bag the Intel Grand Slam title. The program demands any team to win four out of 10 big events run by ESL, IEM, or DreamHack this year to complete the Intel Grand Slam and win $1 million. At press time, Team Liquid is leading the tally with three points to their name, while Astralis currently have one. Last year’s season of Intel Grand Slam crowned Astralis as its first grand winner.

Viewer’s guide

ESL One Cologne will last for 6 days, from July 2 to 7. It will officially start tomorrow at 5 AM CT. The complete tournament schedule is as follows:
