Esports News – All the remaining 8 Dota 2 teams who made it to the next stage of The International 9 can now rest for a while and prepare for their upcoming matches. But OG Esports and PSG.LGD, the two dominating teams in the upper bracket finals, need to move quickly and accurately to retain their positions. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the first round of matches:
The International 8 champions, OG Esports, practically beat all teams coming their way to be on top. OG started their first day at TI9 with a 2-0 win over Evil Geniuses, one of their biggest rivals in the Dota 2 scene.
Moving forward, they faced Natus Vincere and Royal Never Give up and ended all matches with an impressive 2-0 victory. In the end, OG successfully placed their name on the top position of Group B.
PSG.LGD, meanwhile, carried their impressive 5-1 and 8-2 records from day 1 to day 2. They easily dominated all games to win the first place position in Group A, but they still need to outsmart Team Secret in the next stages.
PSG.LGD’s first-ever game at TI9 concluded with a draw against Newbee. They’ve used Faceless Void as their top hero in all matches after the draw and won all succeeding games without receiving any resistance from other teams. They even emerged victorious with a 2-0 win from their battle against Team Liquid, one of the top-ranking teams in the current Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season.
Other teams with noteworthy performances include Team Secret, Vic Gaming, TNC Predator, and Natus Vincere. The South American teams clearly made some noise in Group B, while teams from pole to pole are fighting for the top position in Group A.
The International 9 standings
Team Secret (9 -1)
TNC Predator (9-11)
OG Esports (11-1)
Vici Gaming (7-11)
