Esports News – Kazakhstan team AVANGAR raised the bar high for the CIS region after winning BLAST Pro Series: Moscow. Still fresh from their second-place finish at the CS:GO StarLadder Berlin Major, the champions successfully secured a major victory over the Russian team, forZe, in Moscow.

Tournament recap

The grand finals started on Overpass, the winning team’s first map pick. ForZe surprisingly did well on the Counter-Terrorist side, leaving AVANGAR with a 3-7 deficit in the first few rounds of the game. Although a bit late, AVANGAR activated their resurgence and brought their momentum to the second half of the game. Sanjar “SANJI” Kuliev’s quad-kill helped AVANGAR secured the pistol round. The tally then went to a tie, 13-13, before Dzhami “Jame” Ali asked for a timeout to strengthen their defenses. In the end, AVANGAR closed out Overpass by winning three straight rounds.

ForZe came back with a newfound momentum on Inferno, the second map. Their aggressive opening let AVANGAR contemplate on their new set of strategies. Jame then executed an impressive 1v3 clutch and forZe responded with a string of defensive playstyles. Half of the game quickly ended in double-digits.

Now on the Counter-Terrorist side, AVANGAR found their comfort zone and won three rounds in a row. But forZe had the bigger economy, so the second round is still a challenge. ForZe followed the winning team’s pacing and unlocked their secrets. ForZe secured the map with a 16-12 score, leading the grand finals to its decider match.

Dust2 saw AVANGAR getting the early lead. They immediately attacked forZe’s base, bringing the score to 11-2. ForZe fought back to even the playing field. Andrey “Jerry” Mekhryakov and Bogdan “xsepower” Chernikov pulled two key Desert Eagle kills and 1v2 clutch, respectively. But forZe’s two players were nothing against SANJI’s trio of USP headshots in an A retake. After minutes of back and forth, AVANGAR won the map with a 16-6 victory.
