Starladder Berlin Major: From New Legends Stage To Playoffs - Tipify

Esports News – We have determined the teams advancing from the New Legends Stage to the next round of the Starladder Berlin Major. Eight top-rank CS:GO teams proceed to the playoffs on September 9 to represent their region and secure a spot in the grand finals. We bid our goodbyes to DreamEaters, CR4ZY, North, Faze Clan, Mousesports, G2 Esports, MIBR, and NiP who failed to survive the match-ups for the first round. With that, let’s take a look at what happened this week and the positions of the remaining teams.

A look at the new Legends Stage

The highlight of this stage was Team Liquid vs Astralis matchup. The two teams hold the 1st and 3rd positions in the HLTV CS:GO global rankings, and both of them are holders of the first season and second season Intel Grand Slam award.

As expected, it was a tight match. If one can remember, the last excruciating matchup between the two teams was in the quarter-final stage of ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals. Liquid won the match, courtesy of a dominant performance from MVP Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski. For all major and minor competitions this year, Liquid and Astralis faced each other for the sixth time—with Team Liquid having the better international record of 3-2 in matches and 6-5 in maps.

We also have the stressful matchup between NRG and Natus Vincere, two teams who are next to each other in the rankings. Both teams survived the New Legends Stage and will proceed to the playoffs, but they still need to beat each other again to secure the final spot.

In other news, ENCE and Vitality passed the stage, but they’re the lowest-ranked sides in the playoff stage. ENCE will face Renages in the next stage, which would surely be a tough battle for the Finnish team since Renegades has a 0-2 starting record. Vitality, on the other hand, will face Kazakhstan team AVANGAR, who are playing their first-ever playoffs in a major CS:GO competition.

Here’s the complete breakdown of all the quarter-final pairings:

ENCE vs Australia
Vitality vs AVANGAR
Astralis vs Team Liquid
NRG vs Natus Vincere
