IG Faces Liquid In A Rematch At LoL Worlds Group Stage - Tipify

Esports News – The real competition of League of Legends World Championship begins. We’re now on the Main Event Group Stage of the tournament, and it’s fairly easy to say that all qualified teams lived up to expectations—particularly Team Liquid and Invictus Gaming, the biggest rivals from Mid-Season Invitational 2019.

When the two teams faced each other in the recent MSI, Team Liquid went home victorious with a decisive 3-1 score. The result was a shock to many, some League fans even called it a “fluke”. After all, Invictus Gaming is Worlds’ 2019 defending champion, while Team Liquid was known for their domestic achievements. This is why the LoL Worlds 2019 rematch between the two drew attention. Expectations for Team Liquid are high this year. The North American team entered the group stage as the first seed, and everyone’s waiting for Invictus Gaming’s comeback.

Tournament recap

Team Liquid started aggressively as Jake “Xmithie” Puchero faced Invictus’ jungler Lu “Leyan” Jue in the first few rounds. The first blood, the early tower advantage, and the Rift Herald all went to Liquid. But Invictus finally came back to their senses after Liquid’s series of surprises. Liquid may have had the Rift Herald, but Invictus took the first tower bottom lane.

Slowly but surely, Invictus took advantage of the situation. The North American team then got stuck in a series of unfortunate events, courtesy of the defending champions. In the middle of the game, Liquid’s Jeong “Impact” Eon-yeong tried to split bot, but Invictus already saw this coming—they’ve responded by attacking two of Liquid’s mid towers and by baiting Baron. Impact had no choice but to teleport and leave the devastating scene.

Round after round, Liquid had no choice but to counter-attack Invictus’ movements. Liquid is no match for Invictus’’ composition and AOE damage from Fiddlesticks, Orianna, and Vladimir. Invictus forced Liquid to engage in teamfights and close out the game with another Baron fight.

Invictus Gaming’s win against Liquid earned them a 2-0 score in the group stage. A few more wins and they get more chances of winning another crown.
