Liquid Beats AHQ, Secures 2-1 Win At LoL Worlds Group Stage - Tipify

Esports News – Invictus Gaming may have beaten Liquid’s spirits during the second day of the League of Legends World Championship Group Stage, but the North American team refused to back down. With an incredible Baron steal, Liquid beat AHQ Esports Club to get out of the group stage and join DAMWON and Invictus Gaming on the next stage.

Tournament recap

Liquid and AHQ Esports Club started their match with high-impact plays. Nearly 40 minutes in, AHQ top laner Chen “Ziv” Yi placed a Rumble Equalizer that threatened Liquid’s confidence. ADC Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng tried to protect his team from AHQ using Xayah, but AHQ and their Nautilus’ Dredge Line prevented that from happening.

The scores went back and forth after Liquid lost three players, while AHQ remains strong with 4 members. AHQ attacked the middle lane, but failed to damage the Inhibitor. This one, wrong move was an opportunity for Liquid who quickly executed their objective: save their Baron.

Liquid’s jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero positioned himself in the center of the game to preserve the Baron’s health. He jumped over the wall and rushed to the Baron. With a Gragas’ Barrel Roll, Explosive Cask, and a Smite, Xmithie earned the Baron buff for Team Liquid. All AHQ’s hope crumbled after that.

Now on the frontline, Liquid claimed the Elder Dragon and rushed to the middle and bottom lanes. The team’s Dragon Slayer buff was then restored through two Infernals and one Mountain. Before Liquid closed out the game, a teamfight broke out which forced Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen to engage in. Liquid’s top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-yeong helped him by securing a 1v3 on AHQ’s backline. At long last, Team Liquid killed all five members of AHQ to claim their Nexus.

Team Liquid now holds a 2-1 record, sitting next to DAMWON Gaming and Invictus Gaming’s ranking in Group D. Meanwhile, this may be the end of the road for AHQ Esports Club’s League of Legends Worlds 2019 journey. The team failed to win a single match in the group stage.

Liquid’s next match is against DAMWON on October 20 at 8 am CT.
