Riot Reveals Plans For League of Legends 10-Year Anniversary - Tipify

Esports News – October 15, 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of League of Legends, so Riot Games cooked up surprises for fans and players. Riot will host the festivities on Tuesday, October 15 in North America and October 16 in Europe.

Riot Cactopus, LoL Communications Lead, posted the announcement on the web to introduce the main objectives of the celebration: “Every day we see about 8 million peak concurrent players in League.* That makes League the biggest PC game in the world—it’s even bigger than the top ten games on Steam combined. Together, we’ve built a thriving community around the world, and we want to show our appreciation for all of you.”

Live and digital activities

The game developers has been teasing fans and players since September, but they’ve only laid out all live and digital activities today. For two days, the world will be spending their precious gaming time with anniversary-edition streaming episodes and special online matches.

Riot Cactopus emphasized that the events will give us a “glimpse of the future”, particularly on League of Legends’ preseason changes and Teamfight Tactic Tier’s (TFT) next update. Patch 9.20 is just the beginning.

The anniversary will first broadcast League and Teamfight Tactics showmatches. Popular streamers and Riot employees will supervise the event. Succeeding that, LCS desk host James “Dash” Patterson will host the pre-show, a special 10-year anniversary edition show to be aired on Riot Pls. After the opening, Riot will introduce the upcoming preseason update for Summoner’s Rift and the new content for TFT’s second set.

Schedule of events

Riot Cactopus has yet to release the complete 2-day schedule yet, but all digital activities in North America are now laid out:

10:00 am PT: Rioters worldwide kick off a day of celebrating with you, in-game and across digital platforms.
2:30 pm PT: League and TFT showmatches airing live Twitch and YouTube
5:30 pm PT: League 10-Year Celebration pre-show hosted by Dash
6:00 pm PT: Riot Pls: 10th Anniversary Edition

Players from other regions are encouraged to check out their local League of Legends channels on October 15 to keep up with EU and NA’s events. For those who’ll miss the livestream, Riot will release VODs after the event.
