ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Is The Third DPC Major - Tipify

Esports News – ESL, the largest esports company in the world, will continue the 2019-20 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season with a new major. Together with Valve, the company brings the competitive season to North America for the first time since 2017. ESL One Los Angeles 2020 is the third major coming your way.

Ulrich Schulze, ESL’s senior vice president of product, led the announcement: “Los Angeles is known for world-class entertainment and that is exactly what we aim to deliver with the LA Major. We are finally bringing our ESL Dota 2 flagship competition to the US West Coast for the first time and we are proud to deliver world-class Dota 2 action to the local community.”

Tournament details

The United States hosted the 2017 Boston Major where two-time TI champion OG Esports dominated the event. After nearly 3 years, DPC goes back to the U.S. to host another big event.

16 teams will compete at ESL One Los Angeles 2020. 15 come from regional qualifiers, while the final spot is reserved for the winner of a minor tournament happening before the third major. The upcoming minor will run from March 3 to 9, but Valve hasn’t announced the official title and location of the event yet.

The regional qualifiers begin on February 9, and the official event runs from March 20 to 22. Teams who competed at the DreamLeague Season 13, the second Major of the year, only have two weeks to prepare. Take note that performances might be affected by training schedules and time management.

As per Valve’s announcement this year, the winning team gets the lion’s share of the $1 million and 15,000 DPC points. ESL One Los Angeles 2020 will fuel up every team’s objective to qualify for The International 10. The third major of every DPC season is the turning point for teams with low and enough DPC points.

Tickets for the event go on sale on ESL’s event page this year, November 21. The main event takes place at the Shrine Auditorium, a landmark large-event venue with 6,300 capacity.
