Esports News – The Dota 2 competitive season is on a roll, and Valve works tirelessly to provide the best gaming platform for the next set of tournaments. The recently released patch 7.23e holds the answer for issues and shortcomings brought about by the Outlanders update. Here are the major changes from the new patch:
-Outposts XP is now every 10 minutes instead of every 5 (XP is 20*Min-50)
-Removed the two non-Roshan Shrines (initial delay from 5 to 7 minutes, cooldown from 5 to 4)
-Removed all XP talents
The Outlanders update is a game-changer, but patch 7.23e completely changed the system. Follow-up patches only contain balance updates for items, heroes, and other in-game features, but they have a huge impact on the game. This time, Valve’s most significant adjustments are the removal of bottom-lane shrines and XP talents. These changes will surely affect the game’s duration and the pick rates of tier 5 neutral items.
The bottom shrines for Radiant safelane and Dire offlane sides are now out in the picture. Top shrines remain in the game, including Radiant’s small jungle and Dire’s large jungle. Bottom lane players might find the new system challenging as the Dire side gets a serious advantage. Although the Radiant side holds a higher win rate, teams that focus solely on the shrine-less bottom lane can control Dire easily.
Valve got rid of XP talents to control some heroes who benefit the most with snowballing XPs. The system was nerfed in 7.23c, but it seems like removing the XPs altogether might level the playing field. Heroes like Zeus and Weaver have to live without XPs now, making pick rates for these heroes more volatile.
Valve provided new talents for heroes who are heavily affected by the removal of XPs. They received additional strength, magic resistance, damage, mana regen, health, spell amp, movement speed, intelligence, armor, cast range, spell lifesteal, armor corruption, and agility.
XP-dependent heroes like Zeus, Shadow Demon, Jakiro, and Weaver were given alternative talents. Those who didn’t need the XPs that much—like Drow Ranger, Snapfire, Void Spirit, and Treat Protector—received small nerfs.
