Heartstone Player Pokrovac Is Runeterra's First Master Gamer - Tipify

Esports News – Riot Games recently released the League of Legends Runeterra card game to the Open Beta. It’s part of its new set of LoL Universe-centered mobile and video games for 2020. The card game is in a live environment for only five days, but it already gained positive reception from gamers around the world. In fact, one of its avid user, professional Hearthstone player Mikuláš “Pokrovac” Dio, already reached the Master rank.

Pokrovac is the first player in Europe and the world to reach the highest ranking in the Runettera card game. Legends of Runeterra and Pokrovac’s official Twitter account confirmed the achievement, but Pokrovac didn’t elaborate on how he achieved the Master rank. The card deck he used to dominate the ladder is still a mystery. For all we know, it could be from Demacia, Freljord, Ionia, Noxus, Piltover & Zaun, or Shadow Isles.

The Master rank is difficult to achieve. Legends of Runeterra’s tier-system features the following rankings: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Master. Pokrovac had to win multiple matches and earn LPs to achieve the 6 ranks leading to the highest ranking. With Pokrovac sitting on the European throne, Asia and America’s Master-tier spots are still vacant but are expected to be filled soon.

Riot Games has yet to announce if there will be more ranks added in the future. League of Legends allows players to further reach higher tiers like Grandmaster and Challenger ranks, but Legends of Runeterra only have the Master rank for now.

About Pokrovac

Pokrovac is a professional esports and card game player from the Czech Republic. He only plays Hearthstone professionally but explores all kinds of video games during his spare time. He first cemented his name in the international scene in 2015. Since then, he made notable appearances at the 2016 Winter Championships, Battlegrounds #2, Good Gaming Series EU #6, Trinity Series Season 2, and Hearthstone Global Games 2017. The latter earned him a first-place finish under a Czech Republic team.

Pokrovac was a member of Esuba and Misfits before, but he’s now a free agent. He has plenty of time to maintain his Master rank at Legends of Runeterra.
