Esports News – Game Clash, one of the biggest gaming agencies in Poland, announced the return of Game Clash Series. After its successful run in 2018 and 2019, the series welcomes the competitive year of 2020 with two international CS:GO tournaments—both have a $100,000 prize pool on offer.
Although not part of the coveted Intel Grand Slam Season 3 race, the two Game Clash tournaments are considered as Masters-level events. The 2020 series gives other CS:GO teams a chance to collect prize pools and trophies outside ESL and IEM in a single calendar year. Last year’s champions and runner-ups—Illuminar Gaming, Sprout, FURIA Esports, and Aristocracy—are expected to compete again.
The first event takes place from June 5 to 7 at the Gliwice Arena, a multi-purpose indoor arena that can house 13,384 participants. It’s one of the largest sports and entertainment venues in Poland. The second event, meanwhile, will take place from September 11 to 13 in Gdynia, the Polish city that hosted the 2018 and 2019 Masters tournaments. Gdynia Sports Arena will once again be used as a venue. It’s the same indoor arena that houses the popular Euroleague Basketball club Arka Gdynia and hosted the final draw of last year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Both events in June and September features 8 professional CS:GO teams. All 6 of them are invited, while the other two comes from a two-stage preliminary qualifier. Game Clash announces the details of the qualifier at a later date.
In the main tournament, the official teams play a two double-elimination group stage with 4 teams each. The opening and winners’ matches are in BO1, while the elimination and decider matches are in BO3. Only the top two teams from each group advances to the playoffs. Here, the remaining four teams then compete in a single-elimination bracket for the last two sets of matches. The semifinals are in BO3, and the grand final is in BO1.
The $100,000 prize pool distribution for the two events is as follows:
