G2 Esports Stretches First-Place Lead In LEC - Tipify

Esports News – The 2020 Spring Split of League of Legends European Championship (LEC) is currently halfway through, and it has found itself in the middle of a long-standing rivalry. One of the LoL tournament’s strongest contender, G2 Esports, defeated Fnatic in the seventh LEC match of the week to claim first place.

Tournament recap

G2 Esports, Fnatic, and Origen entered the 7th week with tied scores, but Origen fell behind and let the two teams settle their rivalry. After defeating Fnatic in the biggest BO1 match of the week, G2 Esports still remains the best LoL European team in the tournament. G2 surprised everyone with unorthodox picks, questionable strategies, and unusual combinations at the beginning of the match. But in the end, all their ideas worked together.

Fnatic and G2 exchanged kicks and punches for the first 20 minutes of the game. Both teams excelled in team fights, but one is smarter than the other. Fnatic had a gold advantage in the early game, but it was clear that G2 can easily find an opening to start a disaster and get the lead.

After a few minutes, the expected happened in an unexpected way. Fnatic made a huge mistake and found themselves in a 50/50 Baron call. Fnatic dodged G2’s advances, but Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski was persistent. Jankos put himself in the center of the battle and used Olaf’s ax to attack Fnatic’s base and its defenses. Earlier, both teams were only a moment’s close to victory. Now, Jankos managed to turn the game into G2’s favor.

With their Baron, G2 became more confident. Although they don’t usually start fights on their own terms, they know they can survive any attack from the opposing team. Fnatic challenged G2 with team fights but Janna and Yuumi, their strongest champions in the match, were both slowly healing after every blow. Fnatic can no longer put a strong defense, so G2 closed out the match with 11 kills to 6 in over 30 minutes.
