Esports News – League of Legends Patch 10.12 tackles the problems from the previous patch. The focus is on champions who have been standing out or the opposite. Riot Games aims to broaden players use for other champions in the pool.

Riot communications strategists Hanna “Shio Shoujo” Woo and Tricia “Mom Cat” Tan posted the patch notes yesterday on LoL’s official blog site, revealing the patch highlights and the reason for the changes:

“We’ve done a pass on some of our more underutilized and niche runes to broaden their use for more champions. Some felt just too unintuitive to really understand the benefits they were giving and some just felt too difficult to actively trigger for the maximum value. Hopefully, these changes will help players widen their horizons when it comes to picking runes that best suits their playstyle. We also went and did a similar check for Summoner Spells and found that Ghost was in the same boat as the affected runes.”

Champion changes

In simple terms, Riot Games targets overperforming and underperforming champions to create a more balanced amateur and professional LoL tournament environment. The usual suspects are pro outliers like Trundle and Varus, and unpopular champions like Akali, Brand, Viktor, and Xayah.

Trundle – Base health, mana, and mana regen rounded. W bonus movement speed decreased.

Varus – Base attack damage growth decreased. Q damage ratio decreased.

Akali – Q damage increased.

Brand – Increased mana restore on Ablazed enemy takedowns.

Viktor – Q discharge damage ratio increased; shield ratio increased.

Xayah – R base damage increased.

Item changes

Riot Games updated some Runes and Summoner Spells, so all champions can use them properly and effectively when in combat.

Approach Velocity – Additional 7.5% bonus movement speed when moving toward a movement-impaired enemy champion.

Guardian – Updated tether range, trigger condition, movement speed, and shield amount.

Predator – Updated cooldown, damage, duration, channel interruption, and movement speed.

Taste of Blood – Improved indicator.

Unflinching – Additional 10% slow resist and 10% tenacity. Additional 20% on slow resist and tenacity based on missing health.

Ghost (Summoner Spell) – Increased movement speed activation and duration.
