Esports News – The VIE.gg CS:GO Legend Series is back for its sixth season and with its largest prize pool yet. The tournament showcases 12 top-tier European CS:GO teams in an online format from August 31 to September 13. The winner takes the title and the lion’s share of the $56,500 prize pool.
The organizer, Esports Entertainment Group (EEG), announced the return of the event last weekend. EEG VP of Marketing and Head of Esports Magnus Leppaniemi shared the Legend Series’ mission this year in a press release:
“We’re excited to play a role in providing a platform for smaller teams to compete for prize money…While the largest esports teams earned tens of millions of dollars in prize money last year, there are hundreds of smaller teams that get excluded from the flagship competitions. The VIE.gg CS:GO Legend Series is our first effort at working to fill this void, and we look forward to getting involved in more events like this moving forward.”
EEG handles the logistics and development of the CS:GO tournament while VIE.gg, the title sponsor of the event, will spearhead the distribution of prize money and studio production.
All matches will be aired from HyperX Esports Studio in Hamburg, Germany, and broadcasted live on twitch.tv/AlliedEsports. Participants compete at the regular season first—where they can earn competition points and an additional $280 prize money for each daily single match win over 11 days. The top 8 teams from the regular season advance to the championship round and compete in a three-day, best-of-three series to determine the overall tournament champion. Make sure you catch the matches on Twitch streams, which you can also find on Tipify’s Live Streams page.
Only the top 8 teams are entitled to their share of the prize pool. The distribution is as follows:
1st place – $17,000
2nd place – $7,350
3-4th place – $3,400
5-8th place – $1,700
