LoL Preseason Update Features Mythic, Legendary Items - Tipify

Esports News – The League of Legends preseason update is coming to the Public Beta Environment (PBE) with new items, start values, and visual effects that will make its way to major and minor tournaments very soon. To give way for these in-game additions, Riot removed some long-time favorites and legendary items.

Lead Gameplay Designer for League of Legends, Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, and the entire Summoner’s Rift team shared the preview of the update on a recent blog post entitled Preseason 2021: Mythic and Legendary Items Preview.

All items mentioned by the team debut on PBE for an extended six-week testing period. Some of the new Mythic items might go live as early as November. The new items are currently in the experimental stages, but players should notice massive changes in the item system this year. The dev team incorporated and polished new icons, item and effect names, visual and sound effects, and stat values.

Below is the initial list of new items and item changes for the 2021 preseason item update. The list doesn’t offer a complete picture of all the item update has to offer, but Riot Games focused on what the basic item tiers would look like.

Marksman Mythics

Galeforce, mobility
Kraken Slayer, anti-tank
Immortal Shieldbow, survive-burst

Tank Mythics

Sunfire Aegis, Ramping damage
Frostfire Gauntlet, Slows enemies
Berserker Suit, Initiation

AD Assassin Mythics

Duskblade of Draktharr, Teamfight multikill
Eclipse, Dueling
Prowler’s Claw, Assassination

AP Mythics (Mana)

Liandry’s Anguish, Anti-Tank
Luden’s Tempest, Burst damage
Everfrost, Slows enemies

Inactive Items

Adaptive Helm
Athene’s Unholy Grail
Frozen Mallet
Hextech GLP-800
Hextech Gunblade
Spellbinder
Statikk Shiv
Twin Shadows
Doran’s Forgeheart
Doran’s Hailseed

The progress and success of the item system overhaul for the new season will depend on how the PBE’s six-week testing period goes. Players are encouraged to spot bugs and submit suggestions while the experimental updates are on the system.

Until then, Riot Games will release more updates to ensure that the 2020 LoL Worlds will conclude smoothly. Based on their item overhaul plans that involve releasing preseason 2021 gameplay plans, preseason 2021 champion class item goals, item system and game ruining behavior updates, updated approaches to item balancing, and preseason item shop updates, Riot Games’ LoL dev team is right on schedule.
