Esports News – 2020 is about to end, but it looks like Valve has more surprises in store for Dota 2 fans. Dota 2 patch 7.28, also known as the Mistwood update, was released several days ago with a new ranged hero and a set of new items that once again changes the meta of the game. In return, this introduces more unpredictable elements to matches during the early stages of the update and more exciting Dota 2 odds and match-ups.

Let’s take a look at all the new things in the PBE today:

Hoodwink, the new ranged hero

Hoodwink, a squirrel, is the new ranged hero in the Dota 2 pool. He’s built to host and execute tricky abilities that can have huge impacts on team battles. Because of her speed and sharpshooting abilities, she’s nearly impossible to keep tabs on in battles.

Acorn Shot – Hoodwink’s acorn can attack nearby targets, slowing them down and dealing bonus damage. If one enemy hero gets targeted, a tree will grow at the target position and the acorn will bounce to nearby targets.

Bushwack – Hoodwink can toss a net trap that stuns enemy heroes if they are near a tree in the area. Affected enemies take damage and are pulled towards the tree nearest to them. They will also have their vision reduced to 0 for the duration of the stun.

Scurry – Hoodwink can easily evade physical attacks while near trees. When her Scurry is activated, Hoodwink gains bonus movement speed, phased collision, and a tree-walking ability for a limited time period.

Sharpshooter – Hoodwink can charge up and fire a deadly bolt from her crossbow, dealing heavy damage to slow and defeat an enemy hero. The damage and debuff duration scale up to the maximum as Hoodwink charges Sharpshooter, and the bolt is automatically fired after five seconds.

New Items

Aghanim’s Shard, which costs 1,400 Gold each, is a new item that can give players new ways to modify or add an ability to their favorite heroes. The Shard is now available for purchase at 20 minutes in every match and should be consumed immediately to take effect, just like Aghanim’s Blessing.

Other new minor items that have been added include three new variations of Blink Dagger—Overwhelming, Swift, and Arcane Blink. Each one can be combined with the base item to boost the item’s ability or improve a specific stat along with other buffs.
