Its been quite some time since we saw the Fnatic team in the grand finals of a big tournament. Once the dominant force in Counter-Strike, Fnatic in their strive towards excellence hurt themselves more than they could handle. However, the new team is definitely making a comeback of sorts. They have shown us some really impressive performances. Silently climbing up to the playoffs of big tournaments, including having a chance at winning some of these tournaments too. Fnatic reached the semifinals at ESL Pro League and ECS Season 4 towards the end of 2017. The new year started with a quarterfinal appearance at the Major. They were unable to make an impact at Starladder but bounced back strongly so far at IEM Katowice. The Swedish team has shown us a resurgence in form for the old guard. Krimz and Flusha were leading the scoreboard on the servers and they had some really clutch performances. Individually these players are equal in talent as the best players in the world. But what Fnatic have a better understanding is their strategy and tactics. We saw how Karrigan was playing extremely aggressive yesterday on Overpass against Astralis. If Fnatic can read his gameplay and take advantage of his awkward positioning, they can create a huge advantage for themselves.
Faze Clan, on the other hand, are on the way to creating an era for themselves. They have consistently been winning tournament after tournament. Consisting of several top talents in the industry, Faze are a rarity in Counterstrike. Rarely do we see International rosters succeed due to the language barriers between the players being a big barrier in their communications? Faze Clan will need to be able to perform well in this match in order to establish themselves as the undisputed best team in the world.
The two teams did play against each other in this tournament earlier. Fnatic won that particular match 2-0. It was quite a dominating performance by Fnatic and the matches were not even close. Krimz, Flusha and JW led the Swedish roster in their dominating 2-0 victory over their opponents. This match will be really interesting as the stakes are higher and we will see a confident Faze constantly pushing up and trying to make Fnatic uncomfortable in their setups.
We recommend a bet on Faze Clan here. This match will be much closer than many of you think. But Faze have found a new found confidence and it was evident in their semifinal matches.
