The major starts here and there are no easy matches on this event, every single match will require lots of thinking and all of them will be very risky for sure. Gambit vs North is definitely one of the easier matches, still very risky and tough to call, but it’s obvious that North are the favorites here, I feel like people overestimate them a bit and also forget that this is a best of one match, Gambit are definitely capable of beating North if they continue to play like they did in the recent weeks.
North haven’t played a single match in over a month, so it’s hard to tell how good they are at the moment, they did bootcamp for at least a week so should be more than prepared for this match, however, Gambit look very prepared as well, they beat lots of very good teams in the recent weeks, teams like Renegades, Cloud9, GODSENT, OpTic, Kinguin and many more, they did it on multiple maps which makes this matchup even more scary.
I don’t feel confident whatsoever here, but North should start off with a win on this event and I’ll trust them.
My odds for this match: Gambit Gaming 38:73 North
First match of the major! Exciting. Either way, for those of you who do not know, North is basically Ex Dignitas, the Danish guys who just got a new organization. This is a pretty huge org too so I expect the North guys to be hyped and what not, and honestly I think they will do pretty well or themselves in this major. The problem I see here is that it is a BO1, and Gambit is that kind of a team that really can show themselves in scenarios like this. The thing about Gambit is that on paper they are not necessarily the hottest of teams, and they tend to be somewhat inconsistent, however as they have shown many times before you just can not count them out and they have the ability to go insane at times. H0bbit is, in particular, a player you need to consider when you talk about Gambit, he has shown that he has the capability to be the star player for his team and carry them across the finish line. The players have been putting in a lot of work hour wise before the major, while North has been signing documents to join North and what not, they bootcamped but still, not sure if North’s preparation is 10/10 for the major but I guess we’ll see. Overall, I think North should be taking this, they have been on the rise and think they will be feeling themselves here, 65-35 North.
5% North under 72% otherwise 2% Gambit. North -3.5 round handicap works here too, think it’s going to be like 16:11 for North.
My odds = 65-35 North
My risk = High
My odds for this match: Gambit Gaming 41:69 North
Hard to call game here. North are a side I do expect to do well at this major, and although MSL is a good IGL, he really does manage to do the worst veto 90% of the time and that really worries me for a BO1. I do think North will take this game and get through the groups, but they could easily lose a game like this. Looking at the maps, it won’t be Cache, D2, Train, Nuke. I can actually see it being Cobble which would be a good game. If north start poorly and mou is hitting his shots and hobbit is playing well, this game could get tricky, but I do expect north to take this, and LOW on north makes sense.
My odds for this match: Gambit Gaming 42:66 North
