Conclusion

On paper an easy match right? Well yeah but that is why you can’t follow the on paper single handedly. Gambit on paper aren’t the greatest of teams, they have a lot of weakish players, or well apparently so they do however as we’ve seen so far the major, they definitely pack a punch. H0bbit has not had the best of tournaments so far, for his standard that is, however Gambit still are 2-0 and looking great, the rest of the team has stepped up big time and it’s truly a pleasure to watch. The problem with Gambit is, they can do stuff like this and so often do, but then they also so often will lose to teams like LDLC and Tricked and what not which makes judging them extremely hard. Gambit has a lot of experienced players that know how the game has to be played, accompanied by the young star H0bbit who when is on point is incredible to watch due to his just fragging power, crazy how just a few months ago very few knew who he was and now he is 2-0 in a major and looking to make it to the playoffs, well unless they do a Immortals 😛 Virtus Pro were looking really shaky going into the major, however well, once again LAN Pro has arrived and they are looking great and have to be considered the favorites for this matchup. VP is kinda like Gambit, all of the players have a lot of experience however they also have better aim than Gambit, and of course are more experienced. I think that VP will take this and go 3-0, I think Gambit will have to battle a bit more to make it out of the groups, historically this match has not been easy for Gambit. 60-40 VP

3% VP under 67% otherwise 3% Gambit. Round handicaps are hard here because i’ve no idea what to expect from Gambit, they could even upset, or just continue with historic patterns and struggle here. I’d just M/L here

My odds = 60-40 VP

My risk = High

My odds for this match: Gambit Gaming 40:60 VP

Gambit have done amazingly well so far to be 2-0 but I do think this is where their first loss will come. I had VP as my 3-0 pickem and although they have started slow in every game, they just have that extra gear to get to the next level and this is what has been winning them games so far. Thinking about the veto, Gambit should remove Nuke and Mirage again, where as VP will remove D2 and perhaps Overpass. This then leaves us with Cache, Train and Cobble. These are some scary maps for the VP guys to face Gambit on. Train I would heavily favour VP, Cache could really go either way, and Cobble will be a really close one too. I will say VP for now but again the veto is important.

My odds for this match: Gambit Gaming 40:60 VP

Coming into this major Virtus.pro were definitely one of the favorites to win the entire thing, so far they’ve been looking alright, barely beat OpTic on cobble but looked really good there, not so good against Gamers2 on nuke as they barely won 16-14, but still, decent performance so far, just as good as always as Virtus.pro have never lost an opening major on the major. Gambit on the other hand, surprised everyone with their performance so far, most people expected them to be one of the weakest team coming into this event, but they already stomped Astralis who are currently ranked as the best team in the world, and followed it up with a win against GODSENT who also beat Astralis on day 1, sick performance so far and they definitely seem to be prepared and ready, knowing their map pool I could definitely see them taking down Virtus.pro and end up going straight to the playoffs with a 3-0 score.

Hard call to make with the way Gambit looked so far, but I’d still favor Virtus.pro for their history on majors, they are my pick although it’s extremely risky for sure.

My odds for this match: Gambit Gaming 45:55 VP
