Alrighty so this is a BO3 that CSGL, or well ex-CSGL should logically be taking, however that is never always the case. Obviously the CSGL guys just got dropped by their organisation so I mean, who knows what to expect from that. I believe that there is usually two mindsets when you get dropped, you either 1. Try your best to try and impress for a new organisation to see and pick you up or 2. You lay back, relax, play poorly potentially since you are not representing anybody and do not have the pressure to perform. CSGL really stands out to me to be the 2nd option, however who knows. CSGL are really heavily favored right now at 76%, and while yes they should be favored, by that much? I don’t think so. At the end of the day, this is CSGL, the good old team who will lose to random CIS teams who they should be beating 24/7 with their eyes closed, however then again potentially can have good runs of form/matches like they are right now, with impressive results over teams like SK, Flipsid3 and what not. You can never be too confident with CSGL or expect them to take matches easily, not that this should be an easy match, however yeah.
Gambit obviously replaced Waylander with Spaze and I mean, we haven’t seen much of them recently unfortunately so it is hard to measure the form they are going into this with, however they have a new player, and while Spaze has a lot of potential I feel, it seems they are not putting in the work right now. Their steam hours are poor and that seems really surprising considering they have to gel Spaze into the team. Gambit have always been really up and down online, mostly down, definitely not playing to the levels of ”hype” or ”expectations” that were set on them when they first formed, they had a good run at the major however ever since that seem to have cooled down quite a bit, replaced Waylander too who did really well there, eh I don’t know, Gambit can upset, they easily could however it seems that 1. Online they are so lackluster and 2. They are not putting in the work, at all. I do not think they deserve as low as 24%, however eh, 60-40/65-35 CSGL sounds about right here, to me just depends which CSGL we will see. Do we get the bot CSGL that will lose to any tier 4 CIS team or do we get one that can compete with the top tier 2 teams easily.
3% CSGL under 72%, otherwise 2% Gambit. I don’t even want to attempt going 5% CSGL here as it is CSGL, you never know with them.
My odds = 65-35 CSGL
My risk = High
My bet = 3% CSGL under 72%, otherwise 2% Gambit
My advice = Same as my bet
My odds for this match: Gambit 35:65 CSGL
This match is pretty straightforward, Gambit lost wayLander recently, he was their best player and you could alredy see how weak Gambit are without him, they already got wrecked by HellRaisers and lost against Escape, somehow managed to beat GODSENT but it seems like everyone is beating them lately. Another thing is how little Gambit practiced lately, their players have like 20-25 hours in the last two weeks and that’s extremely bad, seems like they didn’t practice that much lately.
ex-CSGL are the clear favorites in this matchup – ex-CSGL because their organisation released them yesterday, it doesn’t really matter since I know that they really care about Starladder and they will try their best to beat Gambit today, this is an elimination match after all and the winner will move onto the next stage, loser will play in a third place decider match against either SK Gaming or Escape. ex-CSGL definitely practiced more than Gambit and they are simply better as a team, recently they 2-0’d GODSENT twice, beat FlipSide, SK Gaming and many other teams, lost against NiP, Astralis and HellRaisers, but who doesn’t lose to HellRaisers these days, right? Either way, ex-CSGL’s results are clearly better and they should be favored here.
I’m very confident with ex-CSGL here and I know that MICHU decided to be a bit more serious about CS lately, however Gambit can definitely upset here, these two teams are basically on the same level right now, except ex-CSGL played together for a long time and Gambit went throught a roster change, that’s why my personal odds are 70-30 for ex-CSGL and I’d suggest a medium bet on them today.
My odds for this match: Gambit 30:70 CSGL
Hard to call game to be honest. The unpredictable CSGL, vs the CIS side of Gambit, who recently changed a player, and took a break for a bit. This is starladder, so Gambit will REALLY want to win this, but you could argue that CSGL will do as well, since they are on the lookout for a new org, they will want to impress here and qualify for a LAN event, as it makes them a more attractive proposition for someone to acquire. The last time we saw Gambit, they were stuffed by HR, and then stuffed Godsent after, so it is hard to say where they are at right now. The CSGL boys, beat SK, Fside, and Godsent twice, with a loss also coming to HR. I do feel that CSGL should be taking this, but with them this heavy overdogs, it does make me nervous a bit. Overall though, if they are below 70%, and they show the same form they showed recently, I think they would still just about make for a good bet.
