I really didn’t expect a grand final like this, once again we have two American teams as Europe got wrecked in the previous stages, NiP put up a good fight against SK Gaming but it wasn’t enough. I honestly expected SK Gaming to make it here, but really didn’t think Cloud9 would play so well, they definitely prepared for this event although I’m affraid SK Gaming will end their run, not necessarily because they are better, but they have a very strong map pool advantage over Cloud9.
This match is by far the hardest one to predict because of the map pools of these two teams, SK Gaming will start with a cache ban as always, not sure about Cloud9, they removed nuke last time which is weird given that SK are not that good on it, but if they remove nuke then SK will get overpass which is a free win for them, so I think we should just assume that SK Gaming will start off with a 1-0. So SK should pick overpass, Cloud9 have to pick dust2 or mirage here, they did lose dust2 last time but taking train or cobble would be way too risky, if I were Cloud9 I’d pick dust2 here. Let’s assume it’s overpass and dust2, we have train, cobble and mirage left, I have no freaking clue what would be the last map, both teams are great on these maps, but I think SK will remove mirage and Cloud9 would rather play cobble than train, so cobble should be the last map.
So, overpass, dust2 and cobble is my prediction here, but then again, the map veto process is almost unpredictable here, as I said, both teams are great on all maps and it’s just a guessing game at this point, but with these three maps I think SK Gaming should have an edge and I’d go with them, great team, good maps and the home soil, SK Gaming should win this event.
My odds for this match: SK Gaming 65:35 Cloud9
Very impressive performance for C9 vs mouz, but overall it was a lot down to the poor T sides of mouz that really helped solidify the C9 win. The C9 T side was not that impressive overall and they will need to reach a higher level if they are to take down SK. SK lost nuke which was to be expected against NiP, and then smashed the last 2 maps, looking really strong. They have found their mojo and it took playing in front of their own audience to reach it. Looking at the maps, it is interesting. SK will most likely remove Cache and C9 will remove Overpass or Train. This then leaves C9 to pick anything, but I can see them going for a Mirage pick, with SK taking the map that remains from the one C9 didn’t veto. I think the last map should be Cobble. Overall I do have to favour SK in front of their home crowd and think they will take this one home. LOW on SK for me.
My odds for this match: SK Gaming 60:40 Cloud9
